If you lost your home due to a major disaster, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has developed a program to help you get back into a home. They even made it easier by requiring no down payment. The borrower is eligible for 100 percent financing, including closing costs. Through Section 203(h) , the Federal Government helps victims in designated disaster areas recover by making it easier for them to get mortgage loans and become homeowners or reestablish themselves as homeowners. Section 203(h) program allows the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) to insure mortgages made by qualified lenders to victims of a major disaster who have lost their homes and are in the process of rebuilding or buying another home. (14.119 Mortgage Insurance- Homes for Disaster Victims 203h) For more information contact your local HUD office, contact the FHA Mortgage Hotline at 1-800-HUDSFHA, or check out the program online at www.hud.gov/buying/insured.cfm)
