You are eligible for this money if you are a relative caring for someone in Virginia with a mental or physical impairment for at least 6 months. For an application call Virginia Department of Social Services and ask about the Virginia Caregivers Grant Program at 887-648-2817. Applications are also available on the web between January 1 and May 1 at http://www.dss.virginia.gov/family/as/caregiver.cgi. If you do not live in Virginia, contact your state office on aging by going to http://www.aoa.gov/eldfam/How_To_Find/Agencies/Agencies.asp or by calling the Eldercare Hotline at 1-800-677-1666. You can also contact the office of your elected representative at the state or federal level.
Income Eligibility: Single Applicant – $50,000. These income requirements are estimates and you should check with your local office to verify eligibility as many programs have exceptions and the income amounts change often and vary from location to location.
