The foundation seeks to develop and support the domestic and international education, research and public service activities of plastic surgeons. There are three basic grant awards: 1) Basic Research Grants for basic science research; 2) Research Fellowship Grants, to encourage research and academic career development; and 3) Smile Train Cleft Research Initiative, for healthcare professionals to perform meritorious research projects in the treatment or care of people with cleft lip and palate.
